The Growing World of New York State Gaming Online Casinos and Sportsbooks

The New York State Gaming Commission announced that it has licensed four mobile sports betting companies, allowing them to begin operations on Saturday, January 8th.

Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Rush Street Interactive have been permitted to commence mobile sports betting operations on Saturday, January 8th at 9 a.m., according to a press statement published Thursday.
The four operators “have completed all statutory and regulatory standards necessary to accept and process mobile sports wagering activity,” according to the announcement.

Despite the fact that each operator has been told that they can begin operations at the start of the day, the commission stated that each mobile sports betting license holder will set their own launch date and time based on their readiness and ability to accept wagers in accordance with their licensing conditions.

In November 2021, the commission authorised nine mobile sports betting operators, but five of them must “continue to work towards completing statutory and regulatory criteria essential to begin and will be licensed on a rolling basis as requirements are completed,” according to the commission.

According to previous projections, the New York mobile sports betting industry might be valued up to $500 million each year.
Both New York and New Jersey restrict betting on in-state college teams, thus sports gamblers in either state will have to go to Connecticut or Pennsylvania to get around this regulation.
